Recently, a US Representative of House, in his congratulatory statement on the elections in Somaliland, released some flattery rhetoric about the “cooperation” between the Taiwan region and Somaliland, and engaged in attacks and smearing on China-Africa cooperation. The Chinese Embassy in Somalia resolutely opposes this misconduct.

The Taiwan authorities are colluding with certain political forces in Somaliland to tout for the so-called "Taiwan independence" and blatantly conducting separatist activities in Somaliland. This so-called “cooperation” has seriously harmed the interests and well-beings of all Somali people, including those in Somaliland. China will continue to work jointly with Somalia by mutually supporting each other’s efforts in safeguarding national unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

China has always been carrying out pragmatic cooperation with Africa with the principles of sincere friendship, mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win results. This cooperation has been bringing tangible benefits to the African people. 

China and Africa are now committed to building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era, which has been sincerely welcomed and enthusiastically supported by the African people. Any political plot aimed to drive a wedge between China and Africa will go in vain.
