On September 12, H.E. Wang Yu, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia attended the handover ceremony of  China’s food aid to Somalia in Mogadishu and delivered remarks. H.E. Mahamuud Moallim Abdulle, Commissioner of Somali Disaster Management Agency chaired the event.

Ambassador Wang Yu said that after Somalia suffered the worst flood in history last year, China, as a sincerest friend, took the lead in providing emergency assistance to Somalia to address the Somali people’s imperative need for help. Today, the Chinese government handed over a batch of emergency food aid to Somalia, which is not only another moment truly of the traditional friendship between the two peoples, but also an important action of the mutual support between our two countries in the new era.

Commissioner Moallim, on behalf of the Somali government, appreciated China for its assistance to Somalia and said that the food aids and other assistance from China play an important role in Somalia’s efforts of relieving the disaster. He also said that Somalia looks forward to further deepening the cooperation in disaster relief and reduction with China.
