On 25 August, H.E. Wang Yu, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia paid a courtesy call on H.E. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.

Ambassador Wang extended to Speaker Madobe cordial greetings of H.E. Zhao Leji, Chairman of China’s National People’s Congress Standing Committee and briefed the Speaker Madobe on the upcoming Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Ambassador Wang said China is ready to work with Somalia to strengthen the bilateral friendship, deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation and bring China-Somalia relations to new heights.

Speaker Madobe expressed warm welcome to Ambassador Wang on assuming the post, spoke highly of the traditional friendship between Somalia and China, and expressed his commitment to supporting Ambassador Wang’s fulfilling of duties. Speaker Madobe said he will work jointly to promote the development of the bilateral relations, especially exchanges and cooperation between legislative bodies of the two countries.
