Both China and Somalia have a long history, and the friendship between the two peoples dates back centuries. More than 600 years ago, the Chinese navigator ZHENG He visited Mogadishu during his sea voyages to East Africa. After its own independence, Somalia was the very first East African country that had established diplomatic ties with China, and was among the African brothers who had "carried China back to the United Nations". China has always firmly supported the national independence, reconciliation and improvement of people's livelihood of Somalia.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties more than 60 years ago, the two countries have always respected and treated each other as equals. China and Somalia understand, support and cooperate with each other in dealing with a series of complex challenges and issues concerning each other's major concerns. We have kept writing new chapters of solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
China and Somalia are good friends, good partners, and good brothers and sisters. I have the honor to serve as the eleventh Chinese ambassador to Somalia, and I am fully aware of the responsibilities on my shoulders. My colleagues in the embassy and I will work together with Somali friends from across the sectors, and continuously deepen friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields between the two countries, so as to deliver even greater benefits to the two countries and the two peoples.
