2020/2021 Chinese Government Scholarship Application

The 2020/2021 Chinese Government Scholarship Application is now open for application. Only online application is accepted.
I. Scholarship Introduction:
To enhance the friendly relations and cooperation between China and Somalia, and to support higher education and capacity building programs of Somalia, the Chinese Government will provide full Chinese Government Scholarships  for the academic year 2020/2021, including bilateral scholarships and unilateral scholarships. The Chinese Government will also provide China-Africa Friendship Scholarships for the the academic year 2020/2021, however, which doesn't provide international round tickets.
Bilateral scholarships are for undergraduate/postgraduate/general or senior scholar programs, and unilateral scholarships are, in principle, for postgraduate/general or senior scholar programs. China-Africa Friendship Scholarships are mainly for postgraduate programs, including master's programs and doctoral programs.

Procedure of Application in Somalia
1.Contact the Ministry of Education and Higher Education ( MOEHE ) of Somalia and pass the Ministry's exams and interviews of Chinese Government Scholarship for the academic year 2020/2021.
2.Take physical examination in qualified hospitals and complete application in the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System and get a serial number.
3.Send the name and serial number to MOEHE. The Embassy will review the candidate list sent by MOEHE and inform MOEHE the list of qualified candidates.
4.Qualified candidates directly contact target Chinese universities and colleges for pre-admission letters and submit the letters in the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System to finish application online before 25th February 2020.

II. Eligibility:
To be eligible, applicants must
-be a citizen of Somalia, and be in good health;
-be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs;
-be a bachelor's degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master postgraduate programs;
-be a master's degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral postgraduate programs;
-be under the age of 45 and have completed at least two years of undergraduate study when applying for general scholar programs;
-be a master's degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for senior scholar programs.

III. Application Documents:
1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English).
2. Copy of Passport Home Page: Applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of his/her ordinary passport with validity later than March 1, 2021. If the validity of the current passport does not meet the requirement, please apply for a new passport before submitting the application. For applicants who cannot apply for passports before submitting their applications due to objective reasons, with the permission of dispatching authorities, they may submit scanned copy of identity certificates or official documents containing the applicants' "English name, Gender, Nationality, Date of Birth" and other information.
3. Notarized highest diploma (photocopy): Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
4. Academic transcripts: Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
5. A study plan or research proposal in Chinese or English.
(A minimum of 200 words for undergraduates, 500 words for non-degree students, and 800 words for postgraduates.)
6. Recommendation letters: Applicants for graduate programs or senior scholar programs must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.
7. Applicants for music studies are requested to submit a CD of their own works. Applicants for fine arts programs must submit a CD of their own works which include two sketches, two color paintings and two other works.
8. Applicants under the age of 18 should submit the valid documents of their legal guardians in China.
9. Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (The original copy should be kept by the applicant). The form designed by the Chinese quarantine authority can be downloaded from  www.campuschina.org. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.
Please submit the following documents if applicable
1.Pre-admission Letter from Chinese Government Scholarship universities and colleges.
2.Language qualification certificate. e.g., HSK certificates, IELTS or TOFEL report.

IV. Instructions of the online application:
Step 1. Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or www.campuschina.org. and click "Application Online for International Students"
Step 2. Read "Tips for online application" carefully before clicking "NEXT" to the registration page.
Step 3. After registration, log in with your user name and password. For new user, please click "Create an account" for registration.
Step 4. Fill in the correct Program Category: Type A and Agency Number: 7061
Step 5. Fill in the Online Application Form and upload supporting documents truly, correctly and completely following the steps listed on the left of the page. Applicants are required to select a discipline before choosing their majors. Please refer to the Disciplines Index, which could be downloaded from Help, if you have any doubt about the disciplines and majors.
Step 6. Check each part of your Application carefully before submitting it. Click Submit to submit your Application Form. The submitted documents will be the only reference for the applied universities and colleges to confirm the admission.
Step 7. You can make changes to your application by clicking Withdraw and Edit the Application on the top of the  page. But make sure to submit it again by clicking Submit after finishing all the changes. Otherwise, the retrieved application will become invalid and your new application will not be received either.
Step 8. Download the completed Application Form by clicking Print the Application Form and you can find a serial number in the document.
Only Chinese and English are accepted for the online application.
